Amazon Lodge

Amazon Lodge is located 80 km (50 miles) from Manaus, on the southbank of the Amazon River, on the Parana do Mamori River system, upstream from Rio Juma. The lodge has "Standard Ecological Lodging" classifiction by the Brazilian Tourism Bureau and is the real ecolodge in the Amazonas for more than 30 years. The Amazon Lodge consists of a central "open air" swimming module, where it is so nice to take a swin in the warm river water. The lodge is located inside a private reserve of 337 hectar of unspoild primary rainforest. It is very beautiful almost lika en ecological park. It´s probably the lodge with the bestlocation inviting its guest to see and experience the real rainforest.

There are 16 apartments , in which 14 of these are classified as standard with two single beds, and another two suites with matrimonial beds, all with mosquito screens, 3 central sanitary installations and showers and veranda with hammocks. Total maximum capacity is 32 travellers in double rooms. Fans are available for all rooms. There is a reception and bar - with comfortable sofas, hammocks and chairs, perfect for relaxing before and after excursions. Restaurant - typical architecture - rustic and all mosquito screened with a great atmosphere for experimenting the delicious local cuisine. Recreation area with a large swimming terrace where you can sunbathe, read or relax with nature. The lodge has a generator with 110V energy available at night only. No hot water is available (water temperature is usualy 26-32 degrees Celsius). The lights for the rooms, as well as the service area, are supplied by 12 V battery lights.

Transfers: Departures: 13:00. transfer takes about 4 hours. The transfer from Manaus to the lodge or vice-versa is divided as follows: Part 1: Manaus/Ceasa port - by van or bus (30 minutes). Part 2: Ceasa port/Careiro town - by regional boat crossin the river Amazonas via the meeting of the waters. Duration about 45 minutes. Part 3: Careiro/Araca - by van for about 45 minutes. Part 4: Araca/Amazon Lodge- by speedboat, around 1 hour 30. Observation: No guarantee of air conditioning in any of the transport vehicles. Main luggage can be stored in the office luggage storage room in Manaus. Because of the acidity of waters, mosquitos and viruses which cause dengue, cholera, malaria, yellow fever etc. do not proliferate in the area. It is possible to swim in the river around the lodge. Radios are strictly forbidden (Mp3 players ok). Transfers and tours are on regular basis. They are subject to alteration and/or cancellation without previous notice, depending on local rainforest weather.

Sapopema Tour ( 4 days - 3 nights )

Day 1 - Reception at the airport or pick up at the hotel at 13:00 and transfer to the Ceasa port. By regional boat, via the meeting of the waters, to the small village on the other side of the river called Careiro. Then by van to the Araca river pick up point and speedboat to Amazon Lodge. Arrival. Dinner. Alligator spotting tour. Overnight.
Day 2 - 05:30AM Departure for the Sunrise Tour. Breakfast. Reconnaissance tour. Lunch. Fishing trip. Dinner. Overnight.  
Day 3 - Breakfast. Jungle trek. Lunch. Visit to Caboclo native dwelling. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 4 - Breakfast and return to Manaus and drop-off at noon in Manaus.

WHAT TO BRING: Long sleeve shirts, a light raincoat, T-shirts, hat, good hiking shoes/boots, socks, pants & shorts, sun block, sunglasses, flashlight, swimsuit, insect repellent. Optional: Binoculars, books, camera & film, personal medicine, sweatshirt or sweater. Light cotton clothes, pants, shorts, hat, sun block lotion, raincoat, personal medicine, swimming suit and tennis shoes or hiking boots.  For safety measures and for personal comfort, maximum luggage allowance on the boat is 5 kg (11 lbs) per person.

ITAUBA Tour ( 5 days - 4 nights )

 Day 1 - Afternoon transfer with departure at 13:00 h. Transfer by van or bus from Manaus airport or hotel to Ceasa market port and from there by boat/van/speedboat to the Amazon Lodge. Dinner upon arrival. Alligator spotting tour. Overnight.
Day 2 - 05:30AM Departure for the for the Sunrise Tour. Breakfast. Morning Reconaissance tour. Buffet lunch. Afternoon tour Fishing Trip. Buffet dinner. Overnight.
Day 3 - Breakfast. Morning Rainforest Trek and birdwatching. Buffet lunch. Afternoon visit to the local school. Buffet dinner. Overnight.
Day 4 - Breakfast. Morning Rainforest tour. Buffet lunch. Afternoon visit to a native caboclo dwelling. Buffet dinner. Overnight.
Day 5 - Morning transfer back to Manaus for arrival at noon. Drop off at airport or Hotel.

JUNGLE SAFARI ( 6 days - 5 nights )

Day 1 -Reception at the airport or pick up at the hotel at 13:00 and transfer to the Ceasa port. By regional boat, via meeting of the waters, to Careiro. Then by van to Araca and speedboat to Amazon Lodge. Arrival. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 2 - 05:30AM Departure for the for the Sunrise Tour. Breakfast. Preparation for safari. Introduction to basic jungle survival. Lunch. Departure in motorized canoes, travelling for about 3 hours until reaching a native "caboclo" riverside dwelling. Camp out. Dinner near riverside dwelling. At night, alligator spotting. Overnight sleeping in hammocks at river hut.
Day 3 & Day 4 & Day 5 -Stay far out in the jungle. Camping and cooking out. Most of the time the excursions are done by paddling. Daily activities. Sleeping in hammocks. On day 5, in the afternoon, return to the lodge in time for the survivors cocktail. Dinner. Overnight in beds, ahh!!!
Day 6 -Breakfast. Return to Manaus and drop-off at the airport or hotel at noon.
